St Vincent's Melbourne
St Vincent's Melbourne is a major teaching, research and tertiary referral centre providing acute or chronic medical and surgical services, as well as clinical training. By participating in world-class research, we deliver hope to our patients and community and help determine the future of healthcare locally and globally.
The St Vincent's Sydney research campus, which includes Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Kinghorn Cancer Centre (a joint venture between St Vincent's and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research), Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, The Kirby Institute, Nursing Research Institute, the St Vincent's Centre for Applied Medical Research, has pioneered insights into some of the most widespread diseases affecting our community today.
SVHA Research is responsible for overseeing the national approach to research across St Vincent’s. Our mission is to build a St Vincent’s research community that drives excellence in care and champions our organisation’s mission and values.

‘Our Life-Changing Research Strategy’ is our organisation-wide Research Strategy that builds on our strong commitment to health and medical research. The strategy frames St Vincent’s as a research-rich organisation and promotes our goal to be a globally recognised leader in generating and implementing evidence into clinical practice.
The SVHA Annual Research Report highlights the yearly research activities across St Vincent’s, and consolidates these research activities into a single national document. SVHA Research is pleased to present the inaugural web-based 2022 Research Report.
As a Catholic organisation, SVHA is also committed to the ethical framework for Mary Aikenhead Ministries with respect to the sanctity of human embryos and will not undertake research on human embryo-derived stem cells.
